Senior Web Developer
IData Incorporated is looking for an experienced Senior Web Developer to help develop and support SaaS business applications for the higher education industry.
The Senior Web Developer will work as a member of a cross-functional team to design and develop prototypes and fully-functional Web-based applications using Ruby on Rails and other web technologies with a strong emphasis on standards and best practices.
Responsibilities:
• Develop prototypes and fully-functional Web-based applications
• Maintain and support production Web-based applications
• Plan, estimate, and schedule development tasks
• Follow development standards and best practices
• Be self-directed and self-managing with a team-oriented attitude
• Recommend improvements to the software development processes
• Suggest new ideas, tools, technologies, etc. to increase productivity and improve the quality of the applications
• Be flexible and open to change
Requirements:
• 3+ years experience developing production Web-based software applications
• 1+ year professional development experience with Ruby on Rails on a production deployed application
• Related Bachelors degree or equivalent work experience
• Excellent problem solving skills and appreciation of a good challenge
• Good communication and organizational skills
• Solid foundation in OO programming and practices
• Understanding of source control and bug tracking
• Strong knowledge of SQL, relational databases, and database design
• Experience with MVC architectures, HTML/XHTML, CSS, and JavaScript
• Proficiency with cross-browser, cross-platform issues, and web standards
• Linux / UNIX experience
• Experience working remotely a plus
• Leadership experience a plus
