Hiring: Project Manager

We are looking for an experienced software consulting Project Manager who will take on the management of key client projects with the goal of delivering every project on time, within budget and within scope.  

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate internal resources and third parties/vendors for the successful execution of projects
  • Ensure that all projects are delivered on-time, within scope and within budget
  • Assist in the definition of project scope and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility
  • Work with project management office to manage resource availability and allocation
  • Manage all project related communication internal and external
  • Develop a detailed project plan to monitor and track progress
  • Ensure project approach follows corporate and industry standards
  • Manage changes to the project scope, project schedule, and project costs
  • Report task status and budget status regularly
  • Track and escalate issues internally and externally
  • Measure project performance using appropriate tools and techniques
  • Successfully manage the relationship with the client and all stakeholders
  • Oversee quality of work and completion of deliverables by project resources
  • Assign and monitor project resource tasks including communication of task assignments, effort budgeted and due dates
  • Coordinate effort between project resources and corporate resources providing project support
  • Draft statements of work and contract addendums for current clients
  • Perform risk management to minimize project risks
  • Establish and maintain relationships with third parties/vendors
  • Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation
  • Create project management-related deliverables for projects
  • Ability to manage many projects simultaneously
  • Support finance team on billing and invoicing questions
  • Support marketing efforts such as authoring materials or attending conferences
  • Support refinement of project management methodology
  • Stay current with company products
  • Attend corporate events

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree, or higher, preferably in the fields of computer science, information systems, or IT
  • 8+ years proven working experience in project management in the information technology sector, preferably in higher education
  • 10+ years solid technical background with understanding and/or hands-on experience in IT consulting, software development and web technologies including industry-standard software development life cycle (SDLC)
  • Excellent client-facing and internal communication skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively without regular direction; self-motivated
  • Good sense of humor and fun to work with while still being productive
  • Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multi-tasking skills
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office/MS Project
  • PMP certification is a plus.

Salary commensurate with experience and abilities.

This position will work out of the Alexandria, VA office.  However, remote employment (work from home) is possible for the right candidate.
